ABOUT MATTEO

Freelance Creative Director, Photo and Video

What began as a simple love for taking photos and making videos quickly grew into a career. Over time, that hobby turned into a real passion for the art, the storytelling and the industry itself. With a background in marketing, I have been able to blend creativity with strategy, allowing me to be more than just a filmmaker or photographer. I become a partner who helps shape the bigger vision.

I am based in San Diego and do most of my work here, but I travel often and take on projects around the world. I work heavily in the hospitality and tourism space, while also creating branded campaigns and content for a range of companies. All of these projects fit naturally with my lifestyle of adventure, curiosity and exploration, and that has shaped the kind of stories I love to tell.

Why Trust Me?

Past Experience

Throughout my career I have worked across many areas of production and built a clear understanding of where I create the most value. After college I joined Raindrop Agency in San Diego where I helped concept, strategize, script and produce studio shoots for brands like Native, Jones Road and Manscaped. That experience shaped my approach to both production and client relationships. As I built Freschi Creative, I grew from working independently to running a full production company. I learned how to lead teams, manage projects and deliver consistent high quality work. Past clients include Belmont Park, Lakehouse Resort, Yacht Week, LSKD and others across the hospitality, tourism and brand space. Most recently I have partnered closely with Jocko Fuel, leading, concepting, filming and editing branded campaigns that help define the brand and drive performance through strong storytelling.

Education

I attended San Diego State University during a period when it was ranked by Forbes as one of the top 25 public colleges in the country. I graduated with a degree in Marketing which has been incredibly valuable when it comes to strategizing and concepting content for my clients. Alongside my formal education, I have been part of Sam Kolders private online film course. He is one of the most respected filmmakers in the industry and his program has played a major role in shaping my creative approach. I recently placed fourth in the annual My Year short film contest hosted through the school. Between my marketing background, my self taught experience and the training I have received through the Kolder program, I have learned to approach projects not only as a videographer, but also as a strategic partner focused on the bigger vision.

My Values

After my time in the marketing agency world, I learned the importance of being a true strategic partner rather than just a videographer. When you work with me, you are not simply hiring someone to shoot a project. You are bringing on a partner who is genuinely invested in your success. At Freschi Creative we value both the client experience and the long term success of the brands we work with. We work with you closely to bring your project to life and support the goals you are aiming to reach. We do not operate as a separate entity. We operate as a team.

Let’s Get Personal…

Who Really Am I?

Outside of photography and videography, I love to travel (as does everybody), whether that’s staying in a luxury million dollar AirBnB or camping on the side of a cliff in a hammock. Experiences, memories and laughs are all I truly want - and this lifestyle helps me achieve just that. On the flip, I also consider myself to be quite the adrenaline junkie, always looking to push myself past my limits! Cliff jumping, surfing, skateboarding are all evident of my personality. Most recently, I obtained my skydiving license and have over 100 jumps out of an airplane!

My love for this lifestyle really started only 6 years ago. When I was 18, my Dad passed away in an unexpected car crash. My world was flipped upside down and I was lost in life. Around this same time I was starting to explore my hobby for photography + videography. With the help of some inspiration from the internet, I then had my eyes set on a certain lifestyle I wanted to live. One of adventure, experience, and no regrets. When my dad passed away, he didn’t love his job, and passed away too early to ever reap the benefits that everyone so eagerly waits for. This event only solidified my future path in videography and photography. I wanted to make my passion my job, and… here we are :)
